Safe Moving and Handling

Introduction

 

Manual handling injuries are the main cause of lost working days. These occur due to sprains and strains resulting from the incorrect lifting and moving of objects.

​

This qualification is an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training.

 

Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment.

Aim

The aim of this course is to provide staff with sufficient knowledge and experience to perform manual handling tasks safely

​

  • Introduction to safe manual handling

  • Potential hazards, injuries and ill health

  • Legal duties and responsibilities

  • Risk assessments

  • Manual handling controls

  • Principles of safe movement

  • Practical session

Approximately 4 hours

Certification

​

Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded a NAL Manual Handling certificate.
